Managing Directors Paul Luscombe and Darryl Faulds have a combined 40 years’ of experience in the underground mine de-watering industry. A Challenge Pumping Division was originally established back in the late 1980’s as the exclusive distributors for Mono® Helical Rotor Pumps, from this Challenge Pumps evolved in 1992 with the development of WEARTUFF™ in 2001.

Challenge Pumps originally started with a staff of around 5 employees but has grown rapidly in a few short years, now with over 20 employees,and growing. This has allowed Challenge Pumps to grow into market areas such as engineering and reclaiming part servicing and reclaiming.

In 2015 Challenge Pumps appointed Paul Jeffery as the Director of Engineering. Paul Jeffery brings a wealth of knowledge in Helical Rotor Pump design and has accelerated the growth of Challenge Pumps with new products and improved engineering support.

Australia's preferred supplier expands globally

Over the years Challenge Pumps has evolved from selling only core mine de-watering equipment to designing and engineering total system solutions. This progression was assisted by the development of WEARTUFF™ – a de-watering product designed by Challenge Pumps for the unique and harsh environment of underground mines. This proved a successful move with Challenge Pumps becoming responsible for around 70% of the underground mines de-watering equipment in Western Australia almost immediately.

Challenge Pumps now boasts a large client portfolio such as RioTinto ,BHP, Newcrest, Barrick, Goldfields, Barminco, Bynecut, ACM with WEARTUFF™ equipment in mines not only Australia and New Zealand but also overseas in Saudi, PNG, West Africa, Ghana, Indonesia, Kyrgyz Republic, Bulgaria, Kazakhstan and Zambia.

Interstate Expansion

5 years ago Challenge Pumps opened a branch in Victoria, providing service and sales support to all their Victorian and South Australian clients. Further more, Challenge Pumps have expanded into NSW and Queensland through a new branch operation in Orange NSW established 3 years ago. Challenge Pumps has also recently outgrown its current premises in Belmont and have moved into new facilities in Kewdale early 2012. Challenge Pumps now has the capabilities to compleltley trial assemble multiple underground mine de-watering systems in our Kewdale facility.
